Globalyzer Internationalization Development Environment (GIDE)

Globalyzer’s robust graphical interface lists internationalization problems, highlights them in your source code, and helps you to fix the problems. GIDE lets you
- See internationalization issues highlighted right in your source code
- Externalize strings automatically with flexible resource file management
- Find and fix concatenated strings
- Comment code for further review
- Navigate from detailed reports to source code to see errors in context
- Modify and refine detailed reports
Guided Internationalization Configuration Management

Globalyzer guides you through setting up your internationalization project, depending upon your programming language and character encoding requirements.
Rule-based Filters

Powerful rules-based filters let you pinpoint true internationalization issues in your source code. Filters allow Globalyzer to ignore the “false positive” results of a code scan. For instance, you may wish for Globalyzer to ignore strings inside SQL statements that do not present internationalization problems. You can easily achieve this using a filter. This is especially important and powerful in accurately identifying strings or particular conditions that may be unique to your software.
Support for Collaborative Development
Globalyzer’s Web-based rules building tools let you share project filters securely with your development team whether they are across the hall or across an ocean. Yet all code scanning and reporting takes place securely on the user’s local machine within GIDE.
Reporting
Globalyzer generates detailed reports that document the internationalization issues that were found and their location. Types of reports include:
- Managerial Summary — A high-level assessment of internationalization problems in the source code. Includes hyperlinks to detailed information on fixing specific problems, such as locale-unsafe methods.
- Detailed Reports — A line-by-line account of each potential internationalization error that allows developers to easily assess, locate, and repair errors.
You can view both types of reports directly within GIDE, or share them with others who may not have product access.
Robust Help System
The hyperlinked help system provides “just-in-time” internationalization information for developers, as links to information about the specific internationalization problems in your code are automatically generated and placed in Globalyzer reports. The help system also includes general internationalization information, a user’s guide, and tutorials.
Automated Processing
You can configure Globalyzer to be launched in Command Line mode as a batch process during your nightly build, providing internationalization coding verification as you develop new software.
Programming Language Support
Drawing upon Lingoport’s real world internationalization project experience, Globalyzer locates potential internationalization errors within Java, C#, C/C++, Delphi, Visual Basic, JSP, ASP, HTML, JavaScript and Perl. Lingoport also provides configuration services to support additional programming languages.
