Thanks for your interest in Globalyzer Diagnostics, the easiest way to assess your code’s global readiness.

In order to use Globalyzer Diagnostics on a demo basis, you’ll need to take a few steps, detailed below. You might want to print out this page for reference as you proceed.

1. Register for a Globalyzer trial

Globalyzer Diagnostics is a subset of the market-leading Globalyzer software product. You will need to register for a free trial account at Globalyzer.com to begin your use of Diagnostics.

2. Download and install the Globalyzer trial version

Globalyzer is comprised of two elements: downloadable client software, and a server account component that controls how the client software is configured for enterprise use. You’ll be prompted to download the client when you register for the trial. Diagnostics is a feature of that client.

The Globalyzer install process is self-guided; follow the prompts.

3. Create a rule set

Globalyzer Diagnostics, as with Globalyzer, is controlled by configuration files stored by Lingoport at Globalyzer.com. The product requires the creation of at least one “rule set,” which defines the scanning rules Globalyzer uses to evaluate your code. You can learn more about creating rule sets here.

4. Launch the Globalyzer trial version

After installing the client, you’ll get a login dialog when you launch the client. It looks like this:

Your email and password are the same ones you used to register at Globalyzer.com.

5. Configure Globalyzer for scanning

Steps for configuring Globalyzer for your Diagnostics scan can be found here. It’s a good idea to create a Project file along the way, which contains directions the product needs to identify which code file(s) to check for i18n issues, the rule set to load, the programming language the code is written in, and other issues. For more on creating Project files, click here.

6. Click the Globalyzer Diagnostics icon on the Globalyzer toolbar

To run Diagnostics, click on the Red plus sign icon, or select “Tools,” then “Diagnostics,” if you prefer to use the menu.

7. Review the Globalyzer Diagnostics report

When the Diagnostics scan is complete, a web browser will open and display the results of your scan. Note that the report includes detailed information on a range of issues listed in the report menu. Here’s a glimpse of Diagnostic’s summary report page:

There’s information provided about the overall state of your code, as well as in-depth analysis and “health status” in 4 critical categories.
