It’s the Global Economy Stupid

Global Economy

I love this posting from our friends at Common Sense Advisory. I actually used it successfully to help some client executives move things along. Sales outside the US are holding these companies afloat.

Welcome to Lingoport’s Summer 2008 WorldReady Newsletter

We have a couple of announcements you should be aware of:

New Globalyzer Release: Globalyzer 2.4.5 will be out very shortly, and you’ll be receiving an announcement a little later this month. This is a bug fixing release including a few corrections for string externalization, Globalyzer Diagnostics and more. If you’re a Globalyzer user, we suggest you update your Globalyzer client when you get the announcement. If you’re not a Globalyzer user, give it a free try!

Our recent Webinars have been VERY well received, so we’re working on some new ones. See below to find out more. The next two will even be free!

Also included in this newsletter, is the article Getting Excited About the Big Picture. It illustrates powerful new trends in world economies and how that relates to software development objectives and tactics. The article appears in the current issue of MultiLingual Computing. The next issue will feature an article on globalization decision criteria from the CEO to the Engineer, but since the issue isn’t published yet, I thought I’d hold back a bit on posting that one here.

We hope you continue to find value in the information we provide. Let us know your thoughts, questions and suggestions, by emailing us or call us 1.303.444.8020. I’m at extension 703.

Best regards,

Adam Asnes
Lingoport, Inc

P.S. We are holy moly busy on implementation work this second half of 2008. If you’re thinking of talking with us for development help on an internationalization project, advance planning will be very beneficial for everyone.

Webinars on Internationalization

Webinar Series Our Webseminar, hosted by Enlaso back in June was a big success. We sold out space and then some. It was a good juicy technical introduction to internationalization issues, and attendees got to participate with great questions. Cary and Adam really enjoyed providing the presentation. The audience was lively, and we like limiting the size so there’s plenty of opportunity for interaction.

Coming up on September 11th, Adam Asnes will be giving an internationalization webinar through GALA, a localization industry association. It’s a members-only event and content will be geared to understanding internationalization in customer development processes, while facilitating more successful globalization efforts.

We’re working as of this writing on creating the next Webinar venue which will be open to the general public and occurring on a date to be announced in late September. This webinar will include some of the technical content from our first webinar, but we’re going to place more of an emphasis on issues involved with managing internationalization efforts. We’ll be sending more information soon.

Getting Excited About the Big Picture

Written for MultiLingual Computing by Adam Asnes, President, Lingoport

Getting Excited about the Big PictureIn our industry there’s a great deal of well deserved tactical focus on technologies and processes. But remember, new concepts and ideas that evoke emotion move people, numerical evidence of efficiencies and incremental savings are usually, less persuasive. Chances are if you are reading this magazine, you are well informed about the importance of globalizing products. The people who we work with and make major decisions that affect globalization may not be, or they may suffer a narrow short-term view. This column is an invitation to be a globalization leader in your company. Get fired up! What’s happening in our world is way cooler than the introduction of the latest iPhone.
