Services:
What we’re up to now
Our services group is in the midst of a very busy year. Current efforts include:
• Completion of internationalization for a CAT scan medical system
(over 6 million lines of code internationalized!)
• Internationalization of banking software for managing loans
• Internationalization of a financial trading system
• Internationalization of software for managing plastics manufacturing
•Internationalization of an enterprise Internet security product
We see it all in terms of programming languages, requirements and tight deadlines.
We make heavy use of our Globalyzer software in our services efforts and return
that experience back into our product development.

Welcome
to the June issue of Lingoport's WorldReady Newsletter:
In this issue, we're pleased to offer you, free of charge, our i18n Primer
presentation. This primer will help you communicate the technical
aspects of
internationalization and localization work within your company. We've found
this presentation to be universally valuable for our clients who are
engaging in software globalization endeavors - whether for their first time
or umpteenth time. We can even walk you and your team through it if you
like, via a web presentation. Just ask.
You'll also find a feature article relating our experience regarding what
information and actions work best in getting software globalization projects
approved, rather than undertaking technical pursuits that are harder to act
upon.
Additionally, we have included one more presentation, in the form of a video
courtesy of YouTube, to fuel your globalization intentions.
There's more information on the left column to check out,
as well.
Happy summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere! There's an open
invitation to everyone to visit with us here in Colorado, as summers here at
the foot of the Rocky Mountains are incredible.
Best regards,
Adam Asnes

Includes technical information on internationalization and localization for smooth globalization efforts
Many of our clients have asked us for help in communicating internationalization issues across their development teams as they embark on becoming globally-aware organizations. Just as important as having tools like Globalyzer, developers need to understand that there’s far more to internationalizing code than just externalizing embedded strings.
We developed a presentation, intended for a technical audience,
that steps teams through software internationalization and localization
issues, giving recipients the big picture, while including details
on issues such as requirements, managing locale, character encoding
and more.
Use this presentation if:
- You want to encourage your development teams to understand
software globalization for new or ongoing internationalization
efforts
- You’ve got new team members that need globalization
help
We’re going to make the Internationalization and Localization
Primer presentation available free of charge - for a limited
time - on our site. Just go to our
library and
register for your complimentary copy.

Getting
Projects Launched |

Just
last week I visited with a past customer with a possible new
project. Actually I was there primarily discussing implementing
Globalyzer, and they brought up the possibility of having our
team provide services for them.
The situation was not unusual in that they had clear high-level
directives (as in get it done yesterday) for the internationalization
effort, but hadn’t figured out the how part of the equation.
As is often the case, the first request was to do an extensive
assessment and architectural document. I told them what I’m
going to tell you here. We’ve found projects that start
with detailed technical assessments and documentation, often
end up stalled for a year or more.

My wife, Nina, recently showed me a presentation
on YouTube that I was so
impressed with, I thought all of our friends and clients should
know about
it. The presentation shows the exponential effects of globalization
in this
information age of rapidly expanding computing and communications
capabilities. It's staggering stuff when you look at the big
picture. For
me, it certainly stokes the fires of our purpose and responsibilities
in the
world coming together.
